Wordmaster Role

This role is simple: you select a word, tell us about it in the beginning, count the usage during the meeting, and tell us who used it at the end.

Some advice. Adjectives work the best. It's easy to use them in a sentence. Make the word easily visible on a sheet of paper. If you print landscape, you have a chance to make it bigger. See the template that you can use. Include a synonym as well, it's easier to remember.

Before the meeting

You select a word. You can check out Marriam-Webster Word of Day service for ideas. Select a word that we might not about, but at the same time that it's easy to use and that we could use in the future.

In letters large enough to be seen from the back of the room, print your word, the part of speech, and a brief definition. Prepare a sentence as an example of how to use your word.

Prepare a brief explanation of the duties of the grammarian for the benefit of the guests.

Beginning of the meeting

When called by the Toastmaster, give us the word of the day. Explain it. Tell us something about it that will make it easy for us to remember. Remember, this is part of communicating. Your job is to make sure that we use the word during the meeting.

During the meeting

Count the number of times the word was used and by whom.

At the end of the meeting

Give us the report of who used the word and how many times.

Rememeber!

To confirm your role with the VPE and the Toastmasters if you haven't done so at the last meeting.
